Housekeeping Notices

We would like to welcome Simon a new staff member to Hester Canterbury. Simon has recently been employed by BASScare as our new gardener for all our sites. Over time you will see Simon regularly at Hester Canterbury developing and nurturing all our outdoor areas. Simon is very willing to consider any resident input concerning the gardens within in limitations.

A gentle reminder that at ALL times that all visitors and service providers MUST do the following:
– Use hand sanitizer upon entering the building,
– Sign in at the reception desk, and
– Have their temperature taken.

September 2, 1666
The Great Fire of London starts in a bakery in Pudding Lane. While the fire destroyed much of the actual City of London it also helped kill off some of the black rats and their fleas that carried the plague known as the “Black Death”.
(Bubonic Plague).

September 4, 1781
City of Los Angeles founded by the Spanish Governor Felipe de Neve.

September 5, 1997
Death of Nobel Peace Prize winner and advocate for the poor, Mother Teresa of Calcutta. Born in Macedonia in 1910, by 1946 Mother Teresa was teaching in India. Her order established a hospice, centres for the blind, the aged and the disabled, along
with a leper colony.

September 7, 1860
Birth of the self taught, late life artist Anna Mary Robertson or “Grandma Moses”. Anna started painting at the age of 78 and her work was much sort after immediately.
